Not always. Web-based AR runs from a link in the browser, which suits product pages and marketing. Apps give better tracking and features for experiences people use repeatedly.

Accurate 3D models of the products. If you do not have them, models can be created from product photos, dimensions or CAD files.

Most modern iPhones and Android phones support AR through Apple's ARKit and Google's ARCore, so consumer AR usually needs nothing more than a phone.

Start with the products where customers hesitate most, then compare engagement, conversion and return rates against similar products without AR before expanding.
